Guardians of RPG v1.03 Progress Report (December 2022)

Hello everyone! It's the last Monday of the month which means it's time for my monthly progress report! Today I will be sharing with you all of the things I have done for the month of December, and what I plan on doing for the month of January.

Implemented Touch Screen Features

I figured out a way to integrate touch screen features into the game. With this new feature, you are now able to traverse around the map and interact with NPCs and other objects without the use of a keyboard. This way I am able to make the game more accessible to people on mobile devices.

NPC Companion Feature

I also upgraded the NPC companion feature. The update allows for the NPC following you to follow you more seemlessly and without jitters. In addition to that, you can add multiple NPCs to follow you which allows for you to have a party of travelers by your side for future story lines.

NPC Movement Feature

I also upgraded the NPC movement feature. Now instead of NPCs being on a set timer to move from one spot to another, they are now controlled by way-points that allow the NPC to always travel to those points in a cycle. Also, whenever an NPC is stopped by a player, they will pause until the player is out the way, in which they will resume their walk cycle again. I am proud of this feature because it helps make the game feel even more lived in than before.

Implementing NPC Features and Cut Scenes

Lastly, what I did was implement the NPC features into all of the NPCs in Tiro Town. This means that I needed to refactor all of the the NPCs, their dialogue, cut scene animations, and more to make sure the game still played normally.

What I Plan for Next Month

I plan on continuing to tweak these features that I made, and then move on to implementing them into the Toxic Trails chapter.  Once the NPC feature is officially completed, I will start working on upgrading the UI for the game.

So that's all I got for you today.

I want to thank everyone who's been supporting me on this journey thus far, because it really means a lot that I'm never doing this project entirely alone (though it can feel like that a lot of the times lol). Regardless, I still have a story I want to tell and I don't want to rest until I see it through.

Be sure to check out Guardians of RPG v1.02 if you haven't. Also, if you want to see videos/photos of my recent updates, and more details on everything here, consider following me on Instagram and on Patreon! Members of my Patreon get access to all of this and more EO Comics Projects one week early!

With that out of the way, I will see you all next week!
