GofRPG v1.03 DevLog 2: NPC Companion Update

Hello everyone! I'm back to doing game development for Guardians of RPG v1.03! I want to share with you what I've been working on this past week with the latest version of the game, v1.03, and keep you updated every week as much as possible. A longer more detailed version of the script will be on Patreon. With that out of the way, let's get into it!

I’ve updated the NPC Companion Feature! If anyone has played v1.02, you will know that the NPC Companion feature is barely passable. the NPC stutters frequently, and it does not always keep up with the player's movements. While you may not use the NPC Companion feature at all during the Tiro Town storyline, you will have companions that follow you throughout the rest of the game, so it’s important to get this right early in development by determining how I want players and NPCs to move.

To fix this issue I created a new way in which NPCs move, which is by means of WayPoints. To track the player, there's an update method that creates custom waypoints for the NPC every time the player moves or changes directions. This helped fix the look and feel of the NPC Companion feature and will make the game become more enjoyable to play.

So that's all I got for you today! Be sure to check out my Instagram  and Guardians of RPG v1.02 if you haven't already, and for a more detailed overview, check out my Patreon! Patrons get access to more details and more updates on ALL EO Comics related projects one week early!
