Toxic Trails Storyline Completed, Cut Scenes Almost Finished (Guardians of RPG v 1.02 Update)

Hello everyone!

It's Monday which means it's time for the weekly devlog. Like the title suggests I will be going over Toxic Trails and the process I've made on it's story.

Toxic Trails Storyline

I have completed the Toxic Trails Story. It has been fully written, and I have storyboarded a way to implement the storyline, along with Story Flags that will check for certain details in battle.

Toxic Trails Cut Scenes

I have created almost all of the cut scenes for Toxic Trails. I believe I would need to create just 2 or 3 more cutscenes for Toxic Trails before the story is completed.

The cut scenes that need to be implemented need to be more dynamic than cut scenes created in the past, so I needed to add a new feature in cutscenes that would enable me to add cut scenes within a cut scene. This would allow my flow chart approach to making cut scenes even more dynamic. The drag and drop feature that I was using when creating this cut scene feature that was useful before is now starting to become a bit much. Maybe a refactoring of the cut scene class and the action classes will need to be made in the future, but currently, the cut scenes work wonderfully.

I am even adding special animation effects, dynamic camera movements and fade in fade out sfx. I believe with more time, I would be able to update these cut scenes to look even more exciting and engaging.

I hope these new features will help elevate my game's enjoyability.

Weekly Goals

I plan to finish all of the cut scenes for Toxic Trails. I wanna hold myself to it this time because I've been unable to work on the project as much as I used to when I started almost a year ago or even 5 months ago. The deadline to finish this is coming up soon, so after I finish the cut scenes, I need to complete many other things that the game still needs such as

  • Battle Simulator
  • Quest and Other CSV Files Checks
  • Move Animations
  • Music
  • Other Bug fixes

Hopefully, I can hustle and finish everything by the end of June.

So that's all I got for you today. Again I want to thank everyone who's been supporting me on this journey, wether by giving this log a read, like, or comment. It really means a lot that I still have people who are paying attention to my video game development journey because it has really been a long time coming. Thank you, and I'll see you all next week.
